Chainsaw carvings from Japan

Posted By on June 23, 2010

These chainsaw sculptures are carved by Hiromu Kurita ( 弘栗田 ) from Ichihara City, Chiba, Japan .
He is the triple winner of Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship in 2007 ; 2008 and 2009.
In 2008 Hiromu Kurita received a fourth place in the “ECHO Chain Saw Carving Championship” held October 3-5 at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with sculpture “Future in the Sky” (unfortunately, I did not find any pictures of this sculpture) .

Hiromu has said :
“Birds or animals are my favorite subjects because these subjects remind me of nature”.
He considers flying eagles and bears with human characteristics his best carving subjects.
