master and globe

This globe is in scale of 1:40,000,000 and is made by Marco Aurelio R. Guimarães from Brazil .

Its a mixed-media project that includes some excellent goldsmith works, marble/granite jobs, wood carving, marble turning, bent lamination, general woodworking and a new kind of  “spherical intarsia” .

I find this project on lumberjocks.com where are more his amazing works .

Hi is a retired engineer , who now spends the most of  his time in woodworking and sculpting.

And if somebody interested how the globe was made , it can be seen HERE in a extensive and illustrated article about the many problems and solutions He was involved  when making the globe .

There are some pretty clever ideas .

I would love to own this item but realistically would never be able to afford it. Does anyone know of somewhere in the U.S.A. I could buy something like this?

Paranneaux Globes (719) 482-0931. If you think this globe is nice, what I can make for you will make this globe look like a fourth grade craft and arts project…. Hope to hear from you soon.
